I am 38 years old with two children aged 5 and 7. After my second child, I never got back to my normal weight, didn't do much exercise and never watched what I ate, so, like a lot of mums out there, was quite overweight and definitely very unfit! Around 8 months ago, I joined the gym and in a very short time became a bit fanatical, doing 2 to 4 hours most days (finally having the chance to look after me might have been too much of a good thing)! Anyway, the results have been good as I am almost back to normal weight, but am much stronger and fitter than I've ever been before. I do a lot of classes, particularly enjoying boxing, Les Mills Body Combat and also dance fitness (although I have never danced before) with a few Body Pump classes thrown in for strength.
I try to fit in a bit of running and as a lapsed yogi, I know I need to balance things out with a bit more yoga as most of my training is very high impact. I have also recently taken up Taekwondo (the whole family does it together) and a lot of my goals tie into doing well in this and boxing. I have a few more pounds to lose, but want to focus on increasing my strength (particularly my core strength), my speed and my flexibility, all of which is going quite well so far. My only hindrance so far is an upper hamstring tendon injury from about 3 months ago that gives me a bit of trouble when I do too much training.
