Birthday gift to help with sore arm July 26, 2010 T. P. Powers (Tijeras NM, USA) This was recommended by my Chiro, and really gives a workout to my hand (grip) wrist, forearm, upper arm and even shoulder.
A little tricky to get started, and you need to get it moving at a good clip for the gyro to kick in but once it does it will start humming and a few minutes of use and the keyboarding cramps are all worked out of you arms!
Now the question is, do I want one for the office and one for at home :)
Fun little workout item; could be more durable. July 26, 2010 Matthew G. Gibson (Hillsboro, Oregon, USA) When I first bought this item, it barely worked with the string that came with it. The tip of the string broke off within the first couple of days, rendering it useless.
I then purchased a docking station to start it, and if you read my review on that you will find that I found that to be completely useless.
Once I started flicking it with my hand a few times to get it started, things got better. I can get it started quite easily with a couple of flicks. Once started, it is a fun little gadget which keeps myself (and those I show it to) entertained for brief periods. It does wonders for your wrist muscles, both strengthening and stretching them.
The item still works a couple of years later, but is not in the same condition as when I purchased it. A few months after I bought it, the rubber band which holds the item's 'clamshell-like' structure began to slide off pretty easily, so an increased grip was necessary to hold it together. After a years worth of use, the band snapped off. I can still use it, but I have to keep a firm grip on it or it will fall apart.
I love the concept and I would buy this item again, but I just wish that the manufacturers had built it with durability in mind.
Pain in the...... neck July 20, 2010 Lammy This Dynaflex is the Worst thing to start...my husband used his drill to start it. Once it gets going you can feel that it works on your muscles etc. If you can keep it going! The other bummer is you really can't send it back. A waste of money.
Fun rhythmic exercise July 3, 2010 Bob N. Johnson Still haven't learned how to start without the string, but once it gets going it is great exercise. This little toy-like device is a serious exercise tool, don't be fooled and over do it the first few days.
Success, finally got it started without the string!
Like April 2, 2010 Mr Parallel (Chicago) This gizmo came in the mail today; I took it to the gym with me and did twenty minutes per hand while on the treadmill, moving my arms in different positions to see what muscle groups I could reach. I can tell that I'm going to be way sore from my forearms to my shoulders tomorrow. There's something kind of hypnotic and pleasing about working this thing. I'd like to get a second and try both hands at once. Though getting the 2nd one started might be a problem with one hand occupied. Hmm.
Anyway, obviously some people have had trouble getting theirs started. I think it may be the case that some people have an instinctive feel for the mechanism and others don't. My wife couldn't keep it spinning at all; my 6-year-old daughter caught the trick as soon as I handed it to her. Just one of those things.
I'm psyched to have found such a small and portable and effective exercise gadget.
