I've never been one who subscribed to all the fad diets out there. Instead, I've always believed that balanced meals are best. Here's the link to a site that advocates weight loss utilizing the "plate method" for balanced meals. Basically, you use a small nine-inch plate for each meal. The bottom half of the plate is for vegetables/fruits. The top half is equally divided between a protein portion and a complex carbohydrate portion. I started using this "diet" method on 12-6-10 and included a half mile (0.8 km) quick paced walk within one hour after eating each meal. As a result, I've lost 45 lbs during the last four months and dropped my A1c to below 6%. Best of all, it is SO SIMPLE to use!
