"Listen To An Introduction To How to Box"

Bottom Line...

"How to Box is about finally having a step by step program you can follow on your own... to develop boxing skill for fitness or competition... to get in phenomenal shape...to wake up each day knowing you can take care of yourself IN and OUT of the ring"

Let me explain...

I'm writing this page over ten years after I took my first boxing class as a complete beginner. That first class hooked me and I spent the next few months driving close to 3 hours a day just to train. Eventually, cost and time put a stop to it, putting my boxing plans on hold until I moved somewhere and found a trainer.

During the "boxing drought" as I call it, I wasted hours and hours trying to find boxing lessons on the internet, in books, and on DVD. The ones I did find, either assumed I knew something about boxing already, not enough, or were just plain crap. My boxing development nearly came to a screeching halt...

I suspect you may be experiencing some of the same things I did - am I right?

It's frustrating when you have the desire and motivation to learn, but don't know where to start. It's even more frustrating when there is a gym in your area, but you can't afford insane personal training fees.

Simply, I believe that

"nobody should be prevented from learning the great sport of boxing because there is no club or trainer where they live"

I can confidently assure you, that if you have two fists and can exercise, you've got everything you need to learn to box online.

Because I've already helped people just like you, from every walk of life , old/young, boy/girl, develop boxing skills and increase their level of fitness with a training plan that is motivating, captivating, and easy to follow everyday...

Boxing Builds Great Physiques
Boxing Builds Great Physiques

Because if you're willing to sweat and commit to train on a regular basis, I'm going to turn you into a boxer complete with a boxer's physique by taking you through a training plan designed to eliminate confusion and instill basic boxing skills.

And you WILL NOT do it alone...

Because I'll be training you, each and every day, just an email away from tweaking your plan, offering some motivation, or holding you accountable.  You make a committment to me and I make a committment to you.

So, Who Exactly Is Going to Be Teaching You All of These Boxing and Fitness Skills?

What qualifies us to be giving YOU advice about boxing?

And, more important, how can you trust what we're telling you?

These are important questions.

So you can feel confident that we are not some nutjobs who have never seen the inside of a boxing ring, let me tell you about myself and Kerry Pharr and the outstanding successes of this boxing course -- the SAME training plan we might train you with:

This training plan has been tested on hundreds of people offline in my boxing club and as part of Army training.  (I'm an Infantry Officer)

How to Box attracts over 28,000 unique visitors a month and has had over 6720 6747 7116 boxers who have relied on How to Box to teach them the basics of boxing and boxing nutrition for a variety of reasons including lack of a boxing club where they live, convenience, and effectiveness.

Over 242 boxing gyms and trainers have used How to Box and this training plan to augment their own coaching and training methods and publicize their gyms to prospective new members in their communities.

I am qualfied Level 1 Theory and Level 1 Technical by Boxing Ontario and currently working towards certification.

I have boxed unofficially in hundreds of matches and sparring sessions and have trained Platoons and Companies.  I am Army qualified to administer physical fitness programs and monitor progress for my subordinates.

Officially, I have competed in the Amateurs in Canada (although only 1 match -- and I lost :)).  Not much of a selling point, but it's the truth.  However, I am still active and if my work schedule permits - plan on improving that record.

And, If You Need More Credentials and Authority, How About Learning From A Professional Boxing Coach Who Has Rubbed Shoulders With Muhammad Ali?

His name is Kerry Pharr, and he has served as a professional boxing manager, trainer, and promoter. He served many years on the Tennessee Boxing Advisory Board, and now he is providing people just like you with video instruction and tips on improving their boxing technique.

Kerry has trained championship boxers such as Darryl "Fast Fists" Fuller, and Keith McKnight who fought for the heavyweight championship of the world.

Has trained a boxer that even George Foreman didn't want to fight.

Has more years in the ring, than most of us have been alive...

Author of the book "Fight the Good Fight"

As former world boxing champion-turned announcer Sean O'Grady once said, "Kerry Pharr is one of the good guys in professional boxing."

In short, Kerry Pharr is a tremendous addition to the site and you could have direct access to him.

The Birth of An Online Boxing Course

I felt like I had the ability and knowledge to create an online training course that could help people learn to box and as they began to follow my course, I started to receive some outstanding success stories like these:

Heres a little bit of

Heres a little bit of progress in my current training. The before picture was when I just started training (maybe 4 days into it) after a few months of doing my own unorganized light training consisting of sloppy heavy bag work and 12 pack consumption. 4 weeks later is present.

As you can see this shit is real. If you wanna get your fat ass in shape get ahold of him and get ready to work hard and get ready to crack some heads open.

1 Week Down, 11 to go....

Thought i'd add a progress comment for people thinking of starting the program. I started the program for fitness only. I'm starting my second week today and i am loving it. I lost 2.5% body fat in one week, i've started counting calories which i vowed never to do and basically i'm feeling a hell of a lot better physically. I am loving the boxing and learning heaps. Only caution I would give to new people joining is that it does require some discipline and time to read before you jump in and start. My wife is worried that I'm loving it that much that I will want to actually start boxing for real, we'll see.....

What's more, just trying the boxing workouts here was enough to convince them that other training methods don't measure up. People were realizing the effectiveness of boxing in meeting their fitness goals and completely transforming their bodies.

I Don't Want to Mislead You - So Please Understand This

Just in case you've been "fooled" or "taken" by other training plans that promise quick, easy boxing training with no effort, let me quickly tell you what the How to Box training course is NOT:

  • It is NOT -- easy
  • It is NOT -- a promise of instant results
  • It does NOT -- require a lot of money to get started (boxing is cheap to get involved in)
  • It does NOT -- require any special education or expertise
  • It does NOT -- pertain strictly to new boxers
  • It does NOT -- matter if you are male or female, young or old

In fact there are plenty of women and people over 40 using the training plan!  And, even though it DOES involve boxing equipment such as heavybags, speedbags, and double end bags...

  • It does NOT -- require you to buy specialized equipment that will never be used
  • It does NOT -- require you to purchase a gym membership

In fact, you can have absolutely no boxing equipment and still modify the training plan to suit your current situation. (although if you want to box, you may want to think about buying the basics - heavybag for instance...)

It doesn't matter if you've never boxed before, or whether you've been training for years, people just like you have PROVEN this training plan works - provided you're willing to follow my step-by-step instructions.

And what's more...

You can start training today...and because of the simplicity and effectiveness of the training plan, you could be moving with ease and hitting with power by next month.

Anyone can do it, from anywhere.  Just follow the day by day training plan.  There's nothing to think about.  I give you everything you need and you can use as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.  Then, as your confidence grows, you can implement more of the techniques and increase the training intensity.

You'll look forward to "working out".  That's because you will be doing something primal and instinctive.  It's fight or flight and you're learning to fight.  You get to hit something -- it completely breaks the boredom of a regular workout routine.

It's safe.  As long as you learn the techniques and pay attention to basic safety tips such as wrapping your hands and using gloves, you will be invigorated and not injured.

It's social.  Boxing was never meant to be learned alone.  At some point, you will want a partner to practice with, and that's when it gets really fun.  There are partner drills and various sparring techniques that will take your training to the next level.

You're in control.  Since you're deciding when you train, you can extend the training plan to 24 weeks or even longer.  You can do multiple cycles of the program as it is designed to let you peak upon completion of a cycle (in case you are prepping for a fight.)  Each mini-cycle (macrocycle) within the 12 week cycle has a specific focus making this program highly customizable to suit your needs.

... Best of all, I've proven again and again that ANYONE can learn to box by using this training plan.

Here's the Proof That How to Box Can Develop Boxing Skills and Transform Bodies

Let the Testimonials Begin...

  • Aaron, Just came across your site tonite and it's very impressive. I've never been one thats been into the whole "health club" workout, so your site is a welcome relief. I boxed as a kid (i'm 42 now) and have always kept up some kind of boxing training over the years. I'm in Southern California, and there are very few boxing gyms nearby, so I have a heavy bag in the garage and do it all at home. Thanks for all the great workout routines and discriptions, punches, etc. and keep up the good work.

  • hey i was interested in learning how to box and found your website. i would just like to say that it was very informative and exactly what i needed. i will definately be using it as a resource in the future. thanks alot.

I just wanted to give you some feedback on your website by saying that I found it very informative. I have been boxing for three years, and was still able to learn some new tricks from your website. Not only that, but it provided information for the beginner boxer. Great website and I've starting telling the guys in my gym already. K-O!
    Jenn H.

  • I just read our web site and it is remarkable, I am totally new to the "art" of boxing and the basics. Other than some good old street brawls I HAVE NO training other than watching boxing on the television or picking up pointers from some of my associates as the shadow each other. However your very basic approach is exactly what I have been looking for years. Within the last 24 hrs my wife thinks I want to be a ring fighter(I don't) I 35 just would like to keep the flies off of me (smile). But I do want to thank you for this web site...
  • Yo Aaron, Hi, how are you?
I just stumbled across your web site and it was exactly what i was lookin for .
i have most the equipment but now thanks to your site i have a workout that i can use to train in this awesome way to keep fit (Boxing).
I am 35 now and i was in boxing when i was younger i think i was 12, but only for about 6 months, but i think i got kinda scared when i had to spar with the golden glove of alberta in our club one night and as you say i was probly doin alot of droppin the shoulder cause that kid knew my every move...
and he really worked me but i feel that it is now a great way to keep off those extra pounds and gain strength ,speed, endurance, and confidence that i feel slipping away as i get older so once again thanks and ill let ya know what happins" Cory
  • Hi Aaron, Thanks for the lesson's. They are very insightful and well thought out. I do belong to a boxing gym in Victoria BC but was looking for a great way to work out on my off days. These lessons have reinforced good habits and given me a great workout I can do here at home! GV
  • I have enjoyed these lessons very much! I am JUST getting started (3 weeks at a local boxing gym, I'm a 37 year old female - pretty out of
shape) and am loving boxing and the amazing workout the training provides. Your messages get into enough detail to actually teach me
something and are supplementing what I am learning from the boxing trainers at the gym. I appreciate you offering this and plan to explore
your site more. Thank you so much!!! Kelly N.
  • Hello - I want to thank you for putting together this great information on an easy-to-use and friendly website. I am a 30 year old out-of-shape male and I really want to work on my body look, stamina, strength and dexterity. Learning how to eat right and box in good form just feels right.
I was a bit nervous about googling "how to box," and I am so glad that your site came up first! Keep up the great work! Thanks for the info!
  • Anyway just wanted to drop you a quick line of support and to say how much I've enjoyed your boxing lessons... have been pleasantly surprised by this. I've always been a big boxing fan andhave always wanted to learn more about the sport and perhaps give it a go one day. But I've never had the b*lls to go to a real boxing gym and at 36 and in very average shape thought any lingering hopes of learning the sport were probably gone. However after stumbling across your site by accident I can say that you have given me some hope that not only can I get into better shape but I can also learn a thing or two on the secrets of boxing and who knows it may come in handy one day if I am forced to fight. I certainly would think twice about throwing the obligatory pub fight big roundhouse haymaker now, and may go for a swift one-two instead!! Only in self defence though of course ;-)

I have to admit I'm not one for dieting (Im 6ft and 93 KG and it aint all muscle my friend) but found your explanation on nutrition and the way the body works very easy to understand. Thanks to you I have cut sugar out of my daily tea and coffee and found you are totally right, you don’t really need it and I'm not missing it so far. I hope to really push on once christmas is out of the way and follow your other tips re calorie counting etc. I'd be around a cruiserweight right now I guess, but my goal (and I think my frame is more suited to) Is to get to Light Heavy or even Super Middle. You gotta have a goal right?

Anyway rambling on a bit now but hope my mail will provide some encourage to you to continue on your excellent work on this subject and many thanks for the advice you have given so far. To quote you if I may, Boxon, Ed

And they go on and on. I have 7 years worth of testimonials. I love receiving them and hope you will send me one when you start to experience the results of this training...

Access to How to Box gets you access to a minimum of four online courses. I say minimum, because additional courses are added as they are completed, and you automatically get those as well.

These four modules are:

Module 1: Getting Started

Consisting of 6 lessons, this course will show you how to use How to Box to achieve what you want to achieve. It is the foundation for success that will ensure you make it through the rest of the program and covers everything from using the features on the site, to goal setting and time management.

Screenshot of the actual member's area Module 1 outline

Module 2: Boxing Fundamentals

The main module of this program, this course starts at the beginning assuming you know absolutely nothing about boxing and takes you to a place where you know a lot about boxing. You'll learn:

How to Move and Develop Your Footwork

  • Learn how to stand for optimal balance
  • Understand the T Frame and Pivot Principles
  • Learn the Pendulum Step and how to work angles
  • Discover how to move forward and back and side to side without compromising yourself
  • do the drills to increase your agility and confuse your opponent

... Plus much more!

Then, once you've got a foundation to start from and understand how you are to move towards, away and around your opponent, we'll move onto...

Developing your Offensive Arsenal

(Imagine knowing in a split second what punch to throw for any given situation... or knowing how to knock someone out with one blow)

I've devoted entire lessons to ensuring you know how to punch correctly.

For example, you'll be taught (whether you are a southpaw or orthodox) how to...

  • throw an effective, blistering jab
  • throw the straight right
  • throw the left hook
  • throw right hooks (slams)
  • throw left and right uppercuts
  • punch with power and speed
  • increase your chances of throwing a knockout punch

... And that's just the basics!

No matter how much experience you have punching, How to Box offers valuable guidance that can increase your punching output and maximal power!

Learn How to Defend Against Any Type of Attack and Turn the Fight to Your Favour With Counterpunching

(Including some advanced tips and techniques on deception and feints!)

... And this is where the science of boxing comes into play.

  • The whole point of boxing is to hit and not get hit. Not getting hit is much harder than hitting.
  • Learn how to block, parry, catch, roll, duck, bob and weave, slip, strategy and ring generalship.
  • In any fight, the person who has and maintains the initiative will win. If you lose the initiative, you need to learn how to get it back and that's where counterpunching comes into play.
  • Defense is a bridge to offense. You can't win unless you are hitting and you can't hit if you let your opponent know what you are going to throw.  Deception is a key component of boxing.

Screenshot of the Module 2: Boxing Fundamentals Lesson Overview

... Well that just sounds like a lot of work, right?

It is, and for good reason...boxing is the most intensely physical sport on the planet. But that's why it is also so damn effective in achieving weight loss and building muscle.

Module 3: Boxing Nutrition

All the exercise in the world is not going to help if you can't control what goes into your mouth. This module will educate you on the nutrition basics. Nutrition doesn't have to be complicated, and once you "get it" will discover you can completely change your body by nutrition alone. You start to control your weight rather than succumbing to the whims of your body.

You'll learn

  • how to calculate your bodyfat - even though How to Box will do this for you.
  • how to manage your weight - lose or gain - to fight in your chosen weight class
  • how to develop meal plans that will boost your training
  • how to cook your own protein bars
  • how to not get ripped off buying supplements by telling you the only two that are worth buying at all

Screenshot of Module 3: Nutrition Overview

Module 4: 21 Combinations of the Speedbag

There is nothing more elusive than learning how to hit the speedbag with speed and precision. Few boxers ever actually master these techniques. In terms of a fight, speedbag skills aren't particularly useful, but this bonus module will have you throwing some pretty amazing combinations.

Screenshot of Bonus Module 4: Speedbag Course Overview

Now you're probably wondering how this training plan actually works

Based on a 12 week cycle (mesocycle), it is broken down into 4, 3 week mini cycles (macrocycles) - each with a specific focus:

Phase 1:  Foundation

This part of the cycle creates the starting point for the other three. It focuses on building muscle, establishing the required level of aerobic fitness via moderate intensity interval training, light plyometrics, and you begin training to increase anaerobic capacity.

Phase 2:   Skill Development

During the next three weeks you will begin boxing specific workouts designed to utilize the muscles involved in boxing to the fullest extent possible. This phase will have a heavy emphasis on leg and core development and will focus on developing any obvious weak points.

Anaerobic capacity will be increased allowing maximum repeated force output over sustained periods. Between workout recovery will be emphasized and explosive strength and power will receive attention via moderate plyometrics.

Phase 3:  Anaerobic Endurance

High intensity training including hill/stair running and weighted plyometrics. Boxing specific skills will predominate all workouts focusing on maximum explosive strength. Anaerobic threshold will continue to be pushed and recovery between workouts will again be emphasized.

Phase 4:  Refinement

Maximal ballistic strength via high intensity plyometrics with a heavy emphasis on anaerobic threshold. Boxing skills will be fine tuned and speed, agility, and explosive movements will receive extra attention.

Complex training will replace normal strength training. This kind of intensity requires an emphasis on between workout recovery ability.

Believe me when I say, that at the end of a 12 week cycle, you are in prime fighting shape.

Or, better yet, listen to what How to Box users have to say.

Warning: Do NOT buy any Boxing Training Program unless it meets the following 6 criteria

I want to give you 6 criteria or elements you absolutely, positively must have in an effective training plan:

1.  A boxing training program must be all encompassing. It cannot just focus on strength training, or boxing skills. It must cover development of speed, power, flexibility, aerobic, anaerobic, and agility.

2.  Boxing training is as much mental as it is physical. That is why it is called the Sweet Science. Any program has to explain to you why you are performing a certain drill as well as get you to do it.

3.  A complete boxing training program has to be fit into your life and your life moulded around it. Eating and rest are as much a part of your training as the time you spend in the gym.

4.  Boxing training is 70% anaerobic and 30% aerobic. For 3 minutes you stand in the ring going all out anaerobically. For 1 minute you rest in the corner trying to catch your breathe. Any program that focuses more on aerobic ability than anaerobic is not going to help you.

5.  A complete program is progressive and focused. The aim of each training session is clearly defined and allows you to focus on your goal for that session.

6.  A good nutritional plan as part of the program, will not force you to buy expensive supplements that do not work.

Well, as you can see, a conservative estimate puts the value of a membership into the hundreds, even thousands of dollars. You're not going to pay $500

You're not even going to pay $100 for a membership.

As I write this, over 7,000 boxers and trainers have used How to Box (you've read some of their success stories) so I have absolutely no doubt that if you want to make your fitness activities more fun, impactful and challenging, How to Box is the one and only online boxing training program for you.

That being said, I totally stand by my program and it comes with a No Quibbles Money-Back-Guarantee. Here's how it works:

You can join How to Box, absorb all the information and download all the bonuses and really put the program through its paces. Anytime in the first 30 days, if you ask for a refund, I'll refund your entire investment, no questions asked.

I designed this guarantee for the 99% who are honest, but naturally skeptical -- not the 1% who'll take advantage of me.

As you can see from my testimonials, people who USE the training plan and boxing lessons are wowed by the results and wouldn't think of asking for their money back or cancelling their membership.

I invite you to join How to Box now and see for yourself how powerful this program really is.

But Don't Pay Now...

Try It First, Get Used To The Site, See Your Body Change, and Your Skills Develop, and Then Decide

I know you may still be wondering if this is going to work for you or even if you'll get everything I say you will, so we decided to let you "Try it first, and decide later."

We put together a simple and easy 21-day Trial-Program for you. Here's how it works...

  1. Instantly get access to everything on How to Box and the 12 Week Boxing Training Program with this Trial-Offer.
  2. Pay nothing today, except for the nominal $4.95 processing fee.
  3. Begin the lessons and start the training plan, using the techniques and instructions provided. Start using the meal planning software if you decide to include it to create perfect meal plans and eat delicious foods that you actually enjoy, but that also increase fat burning... start learning the boxing skills and learn from a great professional boxing coach... and watch as you start to notice measurable results in the first couple of weeks.
  4. As long as you don't decide to cancel within 21 days, the remaining $65.00 investment in your body and boxing skills (the initial $4.95 processing fee is applied towards the normal $69.95 price) will be billed to you at 21 days from today.

That's it, your membership for the year will be paid and then you won't be billed again for a whole year at which time you will only be billed $20/year for as long as you remain a member. Of course, if you decide to cancel, it's as simple as emailing me any time within the 21-day trial period. It's that easy!

On top of that, the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee covers you if you decide at any time in the first 30 days that the site and program don't work for you....although they WILL work if you follow the instructions - hundreds have proven it before you.

if u have a heavy bag and and gloves you will also require hand wraps/ crate bandages. i personally prefer bandages, but this will help protect both your wrist and hands during training. And although these guys arent taking any students atm id check out youtube videos for correct methods of punching otherwise you will just pick up bad habits.

HEAVY BAG ROUTINES

Is your heavy bag a hanging or fre standing bag? Recomend you buy a good pair of either 16 or 18oz boxing gloves not the small thin bag gloves that come with the bag. Go to ringside.comand order a set of handwraps 180 long. While there check out the training books and video available. Recomend freddie roaches book and dvd.
For a workout till you get the proper gear, get a pair of boxing gloves at the sports store preferably 16's . Take your stance weak hand is jab hand. Before you throw your jab tuck your chin in and turn your wrist , then launch your punch toward bag easy. As you do your shoulder should come up to protect chin as it gets to bag leave arm and hand extended do not bring back arm yet. leave it on bag. If you extended your punch properly your shoulder should be up near your near bottom of cheek and in line with your nose. if you follow with your eye down your arm. you should see top of your elbow when fully extended then top of your glove on the bag. If you threw it properly it should be in line over the toes of your job leg.
Practice throwing jabs and side stepping 2 steps one side then 2 steps the other. while keepingyour stance.
Do that for 2 rounds. That is a techigue drill.
For bag exercises below try to get some one to hold the bag for you as you work out
For a hard work out punch with jab and power hand as fast and hard as you can for 30 seconds all out, then 10 seconds normal speed repeat this for an entire round. Do at least 3 rounds.
Another bag exercise is take your stance and for an entire round at full length of your punches throw one two combo continously fast and hard as you can non stop for an entire round.make sure you turn your feet hips and waist properly while punching from your stance.
Try those and let meknow how you do
