Boxing Tip #9: Boxing Your Worst Opponent
I am an amateur fighter and I was asked to spar against a guy that was 40 pounds heavier than i. i was 165, he was around 210. he had more experience than i did. my advice to you i s dont let him see that you are afraid of him. be thinking and practicing with the bags and imagine how you will beat him down. and how you will get him in the stomach and get all the air and energy away from him. now if when you are sparing him, if he starts to put a lot of pressure in you and wants a two by two fight do not give it to him YET, let him get tired, he is fatter so he will get tired sooner. run around the ring trowing you r jab constantly then a couple of combinations and then move immediately do not stand still move around, you are lighter use it as an advantage. make him use his legs and move around, it will make him tired faster do to the fact that when he moves he has to carry his whole weight with him. then in round 2 or 3 when you see that he is tired or a little tired then he will not have as much power as when he started, then is you time boy hit him use him as a punching bag. DONT FORGET TO TROW A LOT OF BODY PUNCHES SINCE MOST FAT GUYS HAVE A ABDOMINAL MUSCLES

Boxing Punches
You lean forward :)... You're actually on the balls of your feet while moving and plant your feet when punching. You're actually aiming to be fleet footed and don't necessarily have to be on your toes the entire time to do that (not to mention it will tire out your calves). Obviously, you will need to develop your physical ability (calves) to move in this manner for an extended period of time. Skipping will do wonders to get the right muscles in shape to help your footwork.

Boxing Punches
You condition your body for endurance and stamina before you get in the ring. That's done a variety of ways, such as using the training plans on the site. You basically need to get in shape so you can last for the duration of the fight. That means training and pushing yourself during your training to develop your physical potential.

Lesson 14: Beginner's Boxing Training Plan
Gymboy - you can increase your power without putting on any more muscle, all you need to do is increase the speed/acceleration of your punches which will come by perfecting your technique. Speed will also increase if you remain relaxed until moment of impact. From physics - force = mass x acceleration - so if you don't want to increase the mass, your only option is to increase the acceleration. Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity over time. Basically, you need to be able to move your punches faster than what you are currently doing and your power will naturally increase. Perfecting your pivot and driving the power from the legs through the hips up your torso and out through the shoulders/arms is what is going to increase your power output.
There isn't a link that I know of between nutrition and power with exception being a creatine supplementation. That supplement can help contract your muscles more fully and for longer periods of time. Other than that, nutrition will either increase mass, decrease it, or keep you where you are at. If you're happy with your weight/body composition, then change the goal in your profile to maintain weight and the new daily caloric requirement is what you should aim for. It won't increase or decrease anything, but will give you enough nutrients for your training.

Lesson 2: Offense - The Jab (1)
Sounds like you aren't holding your wrist in the right alignment when hitting the bag. Don't try to kill it to start, ensure you are finishing your punches with your wrist in a straight line with your arm. Hold your arm out in front of you and put your middle/first knuckle on the bag. If you have the right position, your arm, wrist, knuckles will all be in a straight line. I suspect that you have your wrist turned inwards which is putting strain on it when you connect. You're also likely hitting with your pinky knuckle which is going to cause issues. Correct the alignment and your pain should go away.

Hey Aaron, back again after a couple of years... I completed the 12wk program for fitness reasons in 2009/10 and got some great results. I've since started a family and well, the body has taken a bit of a hit. I love boxing and want to get back in to it to get the fitness and the body back in shape. I do have another bub on the way in a few weeks so thought if I don't get started now, it won't be for a long time. I don't know how i'll go for time, but I have great access to a boxing gym for free as part of work so that will make it easier... Love the website and will help getting through 'system'... Look forward to chatting to you again...

Lesson 14: Beginner's Boxing Training Plan
Aaron - I'm now pleased with my current weight and overall body shape/size/composition thanks to following your 12 week Gold programme but I would still like to continue increasing my power.
Is this possible without getting further muscle hypertrophy and any weight gain or fat loss? If so, what weights/reps/sets/training frequencies would you recommend to achieve this?
Is there any suggested nutritional guidance on encouraging power development whilst maintaining current body weight and fat/LBM ratios. I'm 169.5cm in height and weigh 56kg.
Thanks.

Lesson 14: Beginner's Boxing Training Plan
Great stuff you've posted here. While it seems a little challenging for a beginner, I am sure if given 12 weeks or sth, people will end up with stunning results. Could never thank you enough for the effort you are making here. Well done indeed.

Lesson 3: How to Make a Fist
Undoubtedly, not the best choice of words. I can attest to the fact that there are plenty of women who hit harder than guys do...

This program seems simply amazing .
